Tuition Fees and Courses Cost:

As per the sources, the average tuition fee for all the international UG students was AUD29,235/- each year as of 2017. Official government website of the country gives immense information on the annual tuition fees for international students:

For Master’s degree, an international student needs to pay AUD20,000 – AUD37,000/-.

For Doctoral degree it is AUD14,000 to AUD37,000/-.

The above-given figures don’t include high-value courses like veterinary and medical degrees which certainly cost significantly high.

Calculation of the tuition fees in the Australian universities is done on per unit basis, not per year. Every unit falls into fee band. Students studying with a different combination of units from various bands, the fee is then different for all.

Some universities based in Australia offers official fees estimates that include ANU – Australian National University. ANU ranks as the country’s utmost institute (20thposition in the QS World University Rankings 2018). The annual cost for international UG degree from ANU ranges from AUD32,640 while for BSC programs it is up to AUD 43,632.

ANU costs AUD 72,480 for Doctorate of Medicine and Surgery degree.

There is another cost taken from students which are the Student Services and Amenities fee. It is a kind of charge for the services and amenities of a non-academic nature, costs you AUD294. Well, not all the universities charge this but make sure to be on the safe side than sorry.

Unlike universal students, the domestic students of the nation are also eligible for HELP (the Higher Education Loan Program). The Australian government provides 5 types of govt. loans for permanent humanitarian visa holders and Australian citizens. HECS-HELP is a scheme which is designed to aid Commonwealth maintained students to pay their student contribution amount. FEE-HELP comprises tuition fee for students; SA-HELP comprises charges for services and amenities fee for the students; OS-HELP aids students with some overseas study expenses and there is VET student loan to help students to pursue vocational education and support their training fees.

 

Australian Scholarships and Fellowships:

The country offers an Australia Awards meant for the international scholarship and fellowships. It is funded by the Australian government and made it available for the national citizens and citizens from other eligible countries which comprise Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific area.

This Award is chiefly for students who want to pursue the postgraduate degree and research. There are total 4 funds for international students. One is meant for graduates and PG students which is short-term research fellowship offering AUD24,500 for six months. Second is for professional development which contains a maximum award of AUD18,00 for 4 months and the third one is for vocational education for a diploma providing up to AUD6500 per semester for 2 and a half years.

Candidates who are looking to pursue master’s or Ph.D. degree, they should go for the Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship that offers up to AU$15,000 per semester (for 2 years for PG students and 4 years for Ph.D. students). Maximum award in the same field is up to AUD 140,500 for masters and it is AUD 272,500 for Ph.D.

Cost of living in Australia:

According to DIPB (Department of Immigration and Border Protection) of Australian government says you must show that you possess AUD19,830 for living each year. If you are with your partner then you need to have AUD6940 more and in case you have children too then you should have additional AUD2,970 for every child.

With proof of these funds you also need to show them a return airfare for you and your family member that you’ve taken with you and yes not to forget to keep additional AUD 8000 per year for anychildren who is 5 years old or more than this to bear the school fees.

As per Official study in Australia, one should keep AUD85 and AUD 440 each week for accommodation well depending on your stay (shared or private). Shared accommodation is definitely cheap option than private.
